I am a bird lover. I not only love their songs but I delight in their delicate iridescent markings and I try to capture both their bird essence and their human expression or gesture. I started painting birds for the Audubon Society 12 years ago, and ever since, they have been my top selling category. Who would have thought that an impressionist landscape painter would have such a following with bird portraits? Maybe because each is created with pastel on copper metal plates, making them unique, small collectibles.
