Washington County Open Studios Tour
Washington County Open Studios Tour is a free event that takes place simultaneously at over 50 different locations for one weekend only. This year’s tour will on October 19th and 20th, 2024 from 10am to 5pm. You can start by visiting any of the over 50 studios and galleries.

2024 NPS Member's Show
Each year the Northwest Pastel Society holds a special show featuring its members. This year will be a live exhibition gallery show at the Childhood's End Gallery in Olympia, WA.
Edmonds & Beyond Plein Air Paint Out
Painting Edmonds, Kingston and the Islands of Washington, 45 local and nationally renowned artists have painted a range of subjects from small town cityscapes and marinas to lush landscapes and ocean beaches. You are invited to view this spectacular show with 114 plein air paintings and 25 plus paintings from our 3-hour Quick Paint event which will be held on Sep. 14, from 9:00-12:00!

The 2024 International Show for the Northwest Pastel Society will be hosted this year at the Matzke Fine Art Gallery on Camano Island, WA.

Portland Audubon’s 43rd Wild Arts Festival
The 43rd annual Wild Arts Festival will be back at the Portland State Viking Pavilion to celebrate art, literature, and nature on the weekend of November 18 and 19, 2023.
NPS Signature Show
The Northwest Pastel Society's annual art show especially for NPS Signature Members will be held this year at the Scott Milo Gallery in Anacortes, WA.

Washington County Open Studios Tour
Washington County Open Studios Tour is a free event that takes place simultaneously at fifty different different locations within Washington County in the third week of October. Open studios 2023 will be on October 21st and 22nd. To participate as a visitor simply show up at any of the locations during tour hours, no ticket is required.
2023 NPS Member Show
Each year the Northwest Pastel Society holds a special show featuring its members. This year will be a live exhibition gallery show at the Larson Gallery in Yakima, WA.
Judge and Juror for the Members Show will be Casey Klahn, PSA, IAPS/MC. Casey is known as an American Colorist for his unique abstracted landscapes where color gets to play. Klahn creates with intense color and invokes the Modernist imperative that art be made for its own sake. He offers new types of color expression.
8th Annual “Little Gems” Juried Art Show by the Plein Air Washington Artists
It is a great pleasure to announce that we will have Kyle Ma as the Juror of Awards this year! Plein Air Washington Artists is honored to offer this highly-acclaimed annual exhibit of the finest small works at the Scott Milo Gallery in the beautiful coastal town of Anacortes, Washington.
Opening reception will be held on August 4th from 4:30-6pm. Awards will be announced at 5pm. There will be a livestream for those who are not able to join us in person.
Feature Show at the Scott Milo Gallery
Scott Milo Gallery kicks off the summer with brilliant pastels by Amanda Houston. Houston brings favorites of landscapes and her popular bird pieces. Also showing are oils by Jon Bradham, acrylics by Brooke Borcherding, pastels by Kathleen Secrest and wall mount fused glass panels by Joel & Loris Soderberg of JLS Glass Studio. Also, for summer we have a full selection of great jewelry.
Join us for our artist reception on opening night on Friday, July 7, from 6-8pm.
Wild Arts Festival
Amanda will participate again this year at the Wild Arts Festival! She will have both original works and reproductions for viewing and for sale.
Spirit of Pastel Awards Ceremony
Amanda will be hosting the awards show for the international exhibition by the Pastel Artists of Oregon at the Chehalem Cultural Center.
Featured Artist at Scott Milo Gallery
For the month of July, Amanda will be the featured artist at the Scott Milo Gallery in Anacortes, WA. She will be showing a number of new pastel works.
NWPS International Exhibit
Amanda will be one of the jurors in this prestigious pastels show. She will also have a featured artwork in this summer show at American Art Company.
APAA International Exhibition
Amanda will be exhibiting her work alongside some of the best pastelists in the country with this show by the Arizona Pastel Artists Association. There will be an opening and closing reception.
Wild Arts Festival
Portland Audubon’s Wild Arts Festival celebrates the beauty of the natural world. Approximately 50 painters, sculptors, photographers, woodworkers, jewelers and other artists gather to showcase their work. Whether landscape, wildlife portrait, or sculpture that evokes the natural elements, each artist brings their own interpretation of nature.
Art in the Pearl
This 25th annual festival on Labor Day weekend fills the Pearl District’s North Park blocks with art, theatre, music and hands-on activities for people of all ages. The festival is free and requires no tickets for entry. Art in the Pearl has been named one of the top 10 arts and crafts festivals in the country. It's been 12 years since I participated after doing Sausalito Art Festival for over 10 consecutive years. Looking forward to staying closer to home this year.
NW Pastel Society Signature Show
Dozens of pastel artists from the Signature Membership will be in this show at the Scott Milo Gallery in Anacortes, WA. I will have a few pieces included.
2021 IAPS Juried Gallery Exhibition
My work “Sunrise of Hope” was accepted into the 38th International Exhibition in Chicago and my piece is hanging there this month. As Master’s member, I am in the Master’s circle division. The closing reception will be on July 19 from 5pm-9pm at the Zhou B. Art Center.
Scott Milo Gallery
I am a featured artist for Gallery Walk, June 4-29, 2021 at the Scott Milo Gallery. This is the premier art gallery in Anacortes and Skagit County and they have represented me since 2008. All shows the past 18 months have been online only so this is my first in-person show since the pandemic. I will be exhibiting a number of my plein air pastel paintings that include small birds, fields and skies.
